Temptation

I moved into my new apartment on Saturday. The move was fine, the apartment looks great, but I have an old problem rearing its ugly head.

I think my roommate is really cute.

For all of you who saw this coming mile away, congratulations, you were right. Now how do I fix it?! He's cool and we have been spending a lot of time together the past 2 weeks (kind of like we’re dating, but not), but I know that has nothing to do with it. I know this is just my own crazy man issues coming to bite me in the ass. It's like I'm staring at a burger, and I just want to uhh eat it, but I know it's gonna make me sick. There are both obvious and less then obvious reasons why this is a terrible idea. In any event, my little experiment is off to a rocky start. I think if I can maintain resolve and resist pretty much every instinct that runs through my head, after a while these dirty bird thoughts will go away. I will grow as a person and be able to have meaningful relationships with men that are not sexual or romantic. That's the theory anyway.

Can someone tell me that I can do it? I am in desperate need of encouragement and support.

So, I thought you were moving on Wednesday? I am confused. Anyway, you are correct, I saw this coming...however, I am not sure I can provide encouragement and support until I meet this man. How cute is he? I do strongly advise for the time being that you avoid any and all heavy drinking in the presence of your new roommate. If you get drunk with others...crash with them or bring home a buffer...and not necessarily another man. I feel it can be done. I have faith! Just think of how crappy your living situation could get...that should be a turn off.

A few questions...has he referenced anything more then a roommate relationship? Is he in a relationship currently? Did he just get out of a relationship? And....what does he do for a living?

Answers - no relationship of any kind, right now we are just in a flirty stage no actual discussions about relationships, but I do like to say crazy things like "Let's make babies" It's man terrifying and it breaks the tension. He's a film student. all artsy and talented. He works in different capacities on differnt films and commercials.
